The Coghlin Cruisers get ready for the 2017 Run4Veterans 5k

By Donna Mazialnik, Executive Assistant

On a brisk fall day bathed in sunshine, Team Coghlin Cruisers gathered in front of Veterans Inc. on Grove Street in Worcester to take part in the 2017 Run4Veterans 5k.

Coghlin’s team included a runner whose loved one was directly and positively impacted by Veterans Inc., others whose family members served in the military, some avid runners, and even a few who dislike running but joined for a great cause!

As one of our runners said about his 12+ years working alongside veterans in a previous job, “I gained a true appreciation and gratitude not only for the sacrifices they made while in uniform, but also for the leadership and commitment they passed on to me during a very formative period of my career.  It proved that even though their service may have formally ended, as most veterans will tell you, it never really does!”

Denis Leary, Executive Director of Veterans Inc., spoke to the crowd before the race. He shared that in 2016 alone, the Veterans Inc. food pantry served 9000 veterans and their family members. They also served an astounding 100,000 hot meals and provided 270,000 boxed meals to veterans and their families in need.  This is only a portion of the services provided by this incredible organization.

The race attracted 227 runners, making it the largest and most successful Run4Veterans 5k to date. Coghlin Companies is proud to support great organizations like Veterans, Inc. and looks forward to continuing to do so in the future.
