Coghlin golf tourneyThe Coghlin Companies have a long history of giving back to the community.  Whether it’s donating sporting event tickets or other hard goods for a local charitable auction, supporting a charitable event with the assistance of volunteer labor resources, or sponsoring a caring associate or community friend who is running a marathon or hosting a golf tournament to raise money for an individual or organization in need, we take great pride in giving back.

On June 22nd Columbia Tech and Cogmedix took out a sponsorship in support of the Dean Gordon Memorial golf tournament to benefit The Gordon Children’s Trust.  Dean Gordon exemplified the definition of a caring associate who worked for one of our core suppliers, Heilind Electronics.  As the Gordon family shared, “Dean was a loving and devoted husband, father, son, brother and friend.  He was a selfless person, always putting his family and those in need before his own desires. Many knew him as a quiet, gentle, but thoughtful man—yet his will and courage were fierce as he battled cancer and ultimately faced death.  Even during this time his priority was on helping us to cope”.

Dean passed away 5 years ago on July 10, 2010, leaving behind a wife and 3 young children.  During the last 5 years dozens of companies and individuals have come together to support the Gordon family thru this event, raising money to assist with the cost of education for Dean’s children.  At this year’s event one of Dean’s daughters shared how our community and companies like Columbia Tech and Cogmedix helped her have the opportunity to earn her college and law degrees!  She now plans to be sure she uses her new profession to give back as well.

The Coghlin Companies are proud to be associated with the Dean Gordon family and take great pride knowing Dean’s children will have the opportunity to live out their father’s dream of a college education for his children.
