One crucially important aspect of developing business as a manufacturing services provider is “getting in the room” with the right people. In a field dominated by enormous organizations such as Johnson & Johnson, Medtronic, Boston Scientific, Siemens, and others, it can take months or years to meet the right leader at the right time to form a business partnership. MassMEDIC found a solution: the MedTech Match Showcase. This event, held on January 7, gave a panel of representatives from major OEMs the chance to hear 15-minute presentations from suppliers in a format influenced by ABC’s hit TV show Shark Tank. Reps from the following OEMs were present: Philips, Medtronic, Siemens, Boston Scientific, ZOLL, Johnson & Johnson, Ximedica, Smith & Nephew, BioMedical Structures, CE qur, Haemonetics, MassDevelopment, Seventh Sense Biosystems, and Davol. Presenting suppliers included: Cogmedix, Iron Duck, Baren-Boym Co., CBSET, Proven Process Medical Devices, Tii-Medical, Interstate Specialty Products, Vention Medical, and Kinefac Corp.

Cogmedix was able to distinguish itself as the only supplier at the event to offer turnkey manufacturing services for finished, complex electromechanical medical devices. Presenting for Cogmedix were Scott Cook, vice president of quality and compliance, and Peter Rizzo, business development specialist. MassMEDIC President Tom Sommer and Project Director Bruce Stanley (of Stanley East Consulting) organized the successful event and have set up an exciting calendar of events for MassMEDIC in 2016.
