At the 29th Society of Quality Assurance (SQA) Annual Meeting and Quality College, a focus on leadership lessons brought the meeting to new heights for our members.

As President of the SQA, I opened the meeting with a speech that focused on regulatory hot topics and the importance of a strong leadership team to create innovative ways to strengthen the education and development of Drug Development, Medical Device Manufacturing and Product Design/Development industries.

My speech was followed by keynote speaker, Mark Eaton, former member of the NBA’s Utah Jazz (1982-1994), an NBA All-Star in 1989, and recipient of two NBA Defensive Player of the Year awards (1985, 1989). Mark’s presentation picked up on my key themes with the title “Four Commitments of a Winning Team.” Mark explained the philosophy, principles and techniques that enabled him to “take it to the top,” win repeatedly, and make history in the NBA.

While Eaton’s impressive 7 foot 4 inch frame helped him become one of the best defensive centers in NBA history, his words echoed Coghlin’s operating principles:

  • know what you excel at in the industry
  • deliver on customer commitments
  • elevate everyone’s game around you, and
  • invest in your greatest assets.

These simple, but fundamental core basics are definitely the back bone of Cogmedix and the Coghlin Companies.  Whether we are working with prototype development, product engineering, New Product Introduction (NPI) or contract manufacturing, the mindset is the same. The leadership team’s commitments to these areas are a true testament to the success we see every day from our Winning Team.
